A venue for Denmark's pig industry
For more than 100 years, the production of pigs has been an important asset for Denmark - both in terms of employment and export. The Danish pig industry is among the leading pig industries in the world in areas such as breeding, quality, food safety and traceability. This is a significant reason why Denmark is the world's largest exporter of pork. The foundation of this success is very much found in the cooperative movement that ensures complete control of each and every step in the entire production chain.
It turned out that cooperation, not competition is the way to further success and development. In 2017, there were already 14 companies willing to cooperate with each other in order to gain the common strength on the Danish market as well as abroad. Shortly afterwards, on 6th October 2017, the Danish Pig Academy was founded under the umbrella of ACO Funki in Herning, Denmark.
Today, one year later, Danish Pig Academy consists of 22 companies, successfully cooperating and creating awareness of the Danish pig industry all over the world. It has been a year full of challenges, but also a year filled with many great events. We organized several special events focused on certain areas of pig production. We participated at the international exhibitions with the joint stand. We welcomed high-level delegations in cooperation with the Danish and foreign Ministries. We had visitors from France, Belgium, China, Italy, Germany, Japan, Korea, Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Serbia, Spain, Poland and many more.
Since the development in the industry has been working towards fewerbut bigger pig producers, it sets new demands for pig producers. That is why it is necessary to cooperate and to provide high-level consultancy. Meanwhile, it is a unique gathering place for both international and Danish pig producers as well as other interested people, groups, institutions and organizations within the pig industry.
